Karrke is owned and operated by Christine Breaden and Peter Abbott who live on their ancestor’s land a small Aboriginal Community called Wan­mar­ra. Wanmarra is a small community with a population of just 10. We established Karrke to preserve and maintain our Luritja and Pertame (Southern Aranda) language, cultural knowledge and heritage for the future of our younger generations to never forget their culture.

Our 1 hour Aboriginal Cultural tour is available 01 February to 31 October starting from Wednesday to Sunday. Offering our visitors 4 tour times daily tours starting from 9am, 10:30am and 2:00pm, 4:00pm.

What To Expect

Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Experience is a one-hour cultural tour. See it, Feel it, Experience it. Situated within the Watarrka National Park in the Northern Territory. Our tour is a small walk and talk on Aboriginal cultural where you will experience spear and boomerang displays, learn about bush tucker and medicine, learn our language and a lot more you can also purchase local arts and crafts at the end of the tour. Seated and shaded areas to the various cultural educational areas. Photographs welcomed but please NO video/voice recording permitted.

A short guided walk and talk on areas of importance in our cultural knowledge about bush tucker (Aboriginal bush foods), bush medicines used for spiritual and physical healing and a lot more, as used by the Luritja and Pertame (Southern Aranda) people of Central Australia region.
