Josef Chromy Wines cellar door and restaurant is a stunning location to experience superb Tasmanian wines and fine cuisine made with fresh local produce. Set among old English gardens and stands of 100-year-old oak trees, and overlooking a picturesque lake, winery and a 61-hectare vineyard, the property is a 15-minute drive south of Launceston.
Acclaimed as one of Australia’s top 10, the cellar door is housed in the original 1880s homestead. There’s always a log fire burning and great views to take in while you taste a wide range of award-winning cool climate wines including Sparkling, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Botrytis Riesling and a Ruby Pinot Port.
The restaurant matches the best local regional produce with award-winning wines for unique à la carte lunches, sit down dinners, BBQs in the gardens and harvest brunches during vintage.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Josef Chromy Wines is named after its founder octogenarian Josef Chromy. Renowned in the Tasmanian food and wine industry, he has a remarkable life story of coming to Australian from Europe in the 1950s with nothing. You’ll see Joe out inspecting the vineyard and working with the winemaking team, who work with him to realise his vision of creating wine, food and an experience of exceptional quality.
In just six years, Josef Chromy Wines has amassed more than 15 trophies and 260 medals (including 22 gold) at wine shows, making it one of the most successful launches in the history of the Tasmanian wine industry and is regularly named as one of the Top Cellar Doors of Australia by specialist publications Gourmet Traveller Wine and Australia’s Wine Business Magazine.

The Art of Sparkling Experience
Go behind the scenes and tour the Josef Chromy winery and learn the how traditional method Sparkling wine is made. The art of making sparkling is explained (and tasted along the way) from base wine to corking and wiring. The tour commences at the Cellar Door and takes in the history of the vineyard and the Tasmanian Wine Industry. Includes: 2 course lunch with matching wine, guided sparkling wine making tour and session, bottle of sparkling wine made to your own taste to enjoy on the day.
Fly Fishing at Josep Chromy Wines
Learn the art of fly casting, and gain an introduction to fly fishing with RiverFly Tasmania and Josef Chromy Winery.
