Oceania House, Daphne Room
Description
Oceania House is located on Home Island where the local Cocos Malay community live.History surrounds this lovely old house which once belonged to the Clunies-Ross family.
The house is steeped in history which is reflected in the antique decor. Facing the Lagoon the views are stunning.
This house is not suitable for families due to the shared communal living areas. It would suit those interested in the history of the islands or those wanting to experience the different culture of the Cocos Malay comunity on Home Island. To get to Home Island you need to take a ferry from West Island where the majority of the holiday accommodation on Cocos is located along with the airport. A suggestion would be to spend some time on West Island before spending a few nights on Home Island at Oceania House .
Wifi is available at a small charge, there is a communal TV room, dining area and luandry and a shared kitchen, you can bring your own food from West Island, or there are also supermarkets on Home Island for provisions . Evening Malay meals can be ordered from the community.
