Extra Divers Australia, 1 Day Snorkelling Tour
Extra Divers on Christmas Island is a new operator to the Island. With a comfortable new dive boat that can take up to 16 divers per trip the Island can now cater for larger dive groups. Nitrox is now available with this operator for a small charge. There are many dive sites within easy reach of Flying Fish Cove where the boat departs from so there are no long distances to travel before you reach your first site. November to March is the best time to encounter the beautiful Whale sharks, though there are no spotter planes on the island so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Large pods of spinner dolphins are often seen and if seen between dives and the sea conditions are good then there may be an opportunity to get into the water with them for a snorkel. With the huge drop offs to thousands of metres, large pelagics are often seen out in the blue or along the walls. There is an abundance of marine fish amongst the corals some of which are only found on Christmas Island. The new dive centre has a wonderful deck over looking the ocean and cliff edges. At the end of the day divers can relax on the deck, fill in dive logs, go through fish books and socialise whilst watching the sun set. Just accross the road from the dive centre is The Golden Bosun tavern whre you can et a bite to eat and have a cold drink to end the day.
