Description

Launched in 2005 Coral Discoverer (formerly Oceanic Discoverer) sets a new benchmark standard for luxury small ship cruising in Australia and the South Pacific. The state-of-the-art 1800-tonne Coral Discoverer is the grand vision of Coral Princess Cruises, pioneers and acknowledged leaders in expedition and adventure cruises around Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South-east Asia and the island archipelagos of Melanesia. Oceanic Discoverer is equipped with latest technology active stabilisers to ensure comfortable cruising in open waters and is fitted with state-of-the-art safety and navigation equipment and wireless internet facilities.

Coral Discoverer was built to the exacting international SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) standards and specifications by NQEA shipyard in Cairns, Australia with one aim in mind; to create the ultimate small ship cruising experience in the South Pacific. Australian flagged, and staffed entirely by an Australian and New Zealand crew, your cruise aboard Oceanic Discoverer will remain in your memory for a lifetime.

Limited to only 72 guests the Coral Discoverer retains the intimate and personal experience for which the company is renowned. Interactive crew, Expedition Leader and Guest Lecturers together with an open bridge policy all contribute to retaining this culture.

Coral Discoverer excursions are aboard the specially designed excursion vessel "Xplorer", two zodiacs and a spacious glass bottom coral viewing boat. The "Xplorer" is a specially designed aluminium excursion vessel used for the majority of our excursions. This vessel has high horsepower engines and will accommodate all passengers at one time. The "Xplorer" will be used for landings and for extensive exploration of rivers and tributaries. For your added convenience and comfort, the "Xplorer" is equipped with an awning and toilet.

Coral Discoverer also carries two inflatable landing craft (Zodiacs). Designed for expedition work, these large and heavy-duty inflatables are extremely safe. Separate air compartments retain a large reserve of buoyancy even if the boats damaged. The flat bottom design permits these crafts to land directly onto the beaches. Expect nonetheless to wade through shallow water to reach the shore.
