Itinerary:
Day 1: Collect your hire vehicle* this morning and head north from Perth to the historic twin towns of Dongara & Port Denison. Stop by the Port Denison foreshore and enjoy the buzzing activity of the Marina, home to a large rock lobster fishing fleet. Continue to the sunny town of Geraldton passing the interesting leaning tree's on the way. In Geraldton sample some of the freshest seafood in Western Australia and visit the impressive HMAS Sydney II Memorial before settling into your accommodation at the Best Western Hospitality Inn Geraldton*. Spend the evening enjoying a quiet drink at the cocktail bar and then enjoy a nice dinner at their fully licensed a La Carte Restaurant, The Emerald Room.
Day 2: Today, your drive takes you to the Shark Bay World Heritage Area renowned for its pristine beaches, dazzling waters, red rust sand dunes and prolific marine life. Visit Eagle Bluff, Hamelin Pool Stromatolites and Shell Beach before ending your day relaxing on the shores of Monkey Mia. Take an optional 3 hour wildlife & dugong cruise aboard the ‘Shotover Catamaran’ (own expense). Settle into your accommodation at the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort before wandering down to the beach for the breathtaking sunset.
Day 3: Spend the day exploring the magnificent Shark Bay Region. There is so much to do; fish off the jetty in Denham, visit the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre, take a cruise to explore the untouched Dirk Hartog Island, explore Francois Peron National Park or stroll along the historical Monkey Mia Walk Trail. Tonight you will be staying at the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort.
Day 4: Awaken to the sounds of the Indian Ocean and spend some time by the water’s edge where you may encounter the famous Monkey Mia Dolphins. Listen to an informative talk by a conservation guide and watch as these friendly creatures happily frolic in the shallows. Later, continue your journey south to the popular coastal town of Kalbarri, located at the mouth of the Murchison River. Spend the afternoon down by the foreshore enjoying the salt air sea breeze whilst relaxing in the shade. Tonight you will be staying at Kalbarri Edge Resort.
Day 5: Explore the treasures of Kalbarri National Park by hiking, canoeing, abseiling, quad biking or simply enjoying the spectacular views from key lookout points. Make sure to visit to the natural rock frame ‘Natures Window’. Spend the afternoon relaxing on one of the secluded beaches and end the day enjoying a nice meal at a local Kalbarri restaurant. Tonight you will be staying another night at Kalbarri Edge Resort.
Day 6: Depart Kalbarri this morning and head south via Geraldton to Cervantes, the gateway to the renowned Pinnacles Desert. Enjoy the splendour of the Pinnacles, located in the Nambung National Park. After a swim at Hangover Bay continue south to Perth, returning your hire car late afternoon or early the following morning.
