A journey along the Gibb River Road is one of the last true Aussie outback adventures, spanning some 700kms from Derby to Wyndham.
The journey spans over spectacular scenery with many gorges, waterfalls and rivers along it's length and surrounding areas, including Bell Gorge, Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek, Galvans Gorge and the Pentecost River to name a few. Allow yourself time to explore at leisure, and take the opportunity for hiking and swimming in pools beneath spectacular waterfalls.
The road conditions vary from bitumen to natural rocky earth, with some river crossings, suitable for high clearance 4WD's only, and not recommended for towing caravans, trailers or boats. Camping is available in designated camping areas only. Wilderness retreats and accommodation are available, but must be pre-booked. Please check road conditions with Main Roads WA at www.mainroads.wa.gov.au or call 138138 before you depart.
Please be aware that you are entering remote areas and ensure you are prepared. Mobile phone reception is limited to Derby and Wyndham. Fuel is available from Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, Imintji Store, Mt Barnett Roadhouse, El Questro Station, Wyndham & Kununurra.
